*Please follow any state or local ordinances when considering celebrating holidays this year*
During uncertain times, it’s natural to crave the comfort of connecting with loved ones.
True, the holidays are likely to look pretty different this year than in years past. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t celebrate the season and socialize with family and friends. It’s all about taking the proper safety precautions.
At Wild Tonic, we want to help make your season merry and bright — here are some tips and tricks for celebrating the season safely and in style this year!
Celebrating Holidays From a Distance
On the bright side … it’s gonna be easier to avoid anyone you don’t feel like kissing under the mistletoe this year!
Joking aside, the health threat posed by the pandemic plus the complicated nature of travel are all good reasons to consider celebrating the holidays from a safe distance.
Whether you’re relatively near or very, very far, here are some creative ideas to keep the holiday spirit alive from a safe distance:
Virtual gatherings: Most of us have gotten pretty darned familiar with video conferencing and virtual happy hours over the past several months. Why not embrace technology as a means of getting together with family and friends over the holidays?
Go ahead, put on your favorite party shirt (pajama bottoms fine if nobody can see!), open a bottle or can of Wild Tonic hard jun kombucha, and connect with friends and family. It may not be as boisterous as partying in person, but the opportunity to connect is no less real.
Send or deliver care packages: Nothing says love like a thoughtful care package, either hand-delivered to your loved one’s doorstep or sent by mail.
Delivering locally? Consider preparing traditional recipes for family, friends, and neighbors. You’ll really make them smile if you include some Wild Tonic jun kombucha! Our seasonal flavor, Chai Pear, is perfect for the crisp days of fall. Alternatively, if you want to make a party of it, consider making some jun kombucha cocktails!
If the distance is too great to drive, consider preparing and shipping treats, or ordering goodies for remote delivery. Cookies, candies, and well-packed preserved items (such as jam or preserves) all ship well. You might not want to send a box of jun kombucha in the mail yourself, but did you know that Wild Tonic delivers? You can arrange doorstep delivery via our online store.
Tips for Safe In-Person Gatherings
If you do feel safe entertaining at home or attending gatherings with others, caution is key. It’s all about smart planning, the right supplies, and setting up precautions in advance.
Consider Smaller Gatherings
You may be locally famous for your famed 25-person Friendsgiving event or your annual cookie swap … but 2020 might not be the year to pack in the crowds. Smaller, more intimate gatherings — your immediate family, and maybe a handful of other attendees — could be the way to go this year.
Tips for Safety:
Here are some simple yet important tips for staying safe during at-home holiday entertaining. For a full roster of tips and precautions, check out the CDC website.
- Be sure to clean and disinfect high-traffic areas.
- Consider using disposable utensils and plates (compostable and/or recyclable items strongly suggested!)
- Be sure to have an honest conversion with any invitees about your level of potential exposure.
- Make sure that it is possible to maintain at least six feet of distance at all times so that people can avoid handshakes and hugs with anyone not from their household.
- Delegate kitchen and serving duties to specific individuals to food prep to minimize potential exposure.
- Keep a window open. Depending on how the weather is where you are, try to allow some fresh air in!
Creative Outdoor Entertaining
Here in Arizona, where the honeybees roam and where Wild Tonic is based, outdoor entertaining is a possibility year-round. If that’s the case where you are, consider hosting an outdoor picnic or event for family and friends. Be sure to have plenty of Wild Tonic on hand!
If the weather is cold where you are, consider outdoor activities that can be done at a safe distance that can also keep you warm. How about an outdoor hike or jog … maintaining a safe distance, of course? Or perhaps form a caravan of cars where you drive around town looking at the best holiday lights with friends … all together, but from the safety of your own vehicles.
Keep the Holidays Healthy and Happy!
At Wild Tonic, we want to help ensure you and your loved ones enjoy a happy and healthy holiday season.
The way that you celebrate might be very different this year than it has been any other year of your life, but that doesn’t mean you can’t experience plenty of connection and joy.
We hope you’ll enjoy these tips for creative holiday entertaining in the unusual year that is 2020. Don’t forget to bring the Wild Tonic!
